Good communication between parents and the school is essential in the education of a student. We encourage parents to be involved in their son/daughter’s education at Maur Hill - Mount Academy. The school uses many different methods to keep in touch with all our parents; both day and boarding.

Boarding Parents
New parents of boarding students are in constant communication with the Admission Office prior to the first day of school. During the summer, parents will start to receive communication from the Residence Director and Academic Counselor. It is important to always check your email and if there are any changes to your contact information please update in your PowerSchool parent portal. The Residence Director becomes the main contact for boarding parents as he/she is the emergency contact for our boarding students. The Residence Director also acts as the liaison between the school and the residence halls, although parents will receive school communication weekly from our Principal and Academic Counselor.

We welcome our boarding parents to campus anytime! Parents are welcome to attend their son or daughter's extracurricular activities, participate in Homecoming, Mother/Son & Father/Daughter Weekend, and all other school sponsored events. While it is not a requirement of our boarding parents to complete parent service hours, we still encourage you to be involved with our Parent's Club as you will receive email updates periodically throughout the school year.

Parents are encouraged to visit with teachers about their son/daughter's progress. Through PowerSchool, parents have access to their student's schedules and grade reports. Once a semester, we host Parent-Teacher conferences and each teacher will send a report to the boarding parent of their student's progress. Most boarding parents are unable to meet in person during the conferences, but we always encourage a virtual meeting (Zoom) to include the teacher, student, and parent.

Day Parents
New parents of day students are in constant communication with the Admission Office prior to the first day of school. During the summer, parents will start to receive communication from Academic Counselor and Main Office.  It is important to always check your email and if there are any changes to your contact information please update in your PowerSchool parent portal. We do not allow students to have their phones during the school day, therefore contacting the Main Office becomes the primary communciation channel once your student starts school.

We welcome our day parents to campus for all their student's extracurricular activities and school sponsored events. Parent's Club will send information regarding parent service hours, fundraising opportunities, school sponsored events, and can also be a great resource if you are new to MH-MA. Parent-Teacher conferences are held once a semester, and we do encourage all parents to attend with their son or daughter. Our teachers and administration are always present at school functions, and we hope parents are able to connect and develop a good relationship.

Other Ways We Communicate:

  • Weekly Principal update
  • Power School (online grade book)
  • Academic and discipline reporting when necessary
